6 tips for a fresh bedroom

With warm temperatures ahead, it is not always easy to keep your bedroom cool in the summer. After all, without the help of air conditioning, it often remains clammy and tropical in the house. Need tips to fall asleep? We have already listed some of them for you .

Tip 1: Shower

Crawling into bed sweaty will keep you tossing and feeling sticky. Take a lukewarm shower or a nice warm bath before bed. Warm water leads to less sweat and ensures that you crawl cool and fresh under the sheets.

Tip 2: Cotton, linen or silk bedding

Synthetic bedding looks very nice and stylish, but it only makes you sweat more. Therefore, choose thin sheets and bedding made from natural materials, such as linen, silk or cotton. These materials feel cool and at the same time they protect you against the mosquitoes.

Tip 3: Sleep with open windows

During the day, it is best to keep the windows closed when it is hot to ensure that the heat stays outside. Beautiful curtains in a thick quality fabric are ideal for this. But in the evening, when it cools down outside, it's best to open the windows wide to let the air circulate. Combine with a fan for extra draft and coolness. Do you still have trouble getting a fresh breeze in your room? Then dip a towel in cold water, wring it out well and hang it in front of the open window. The wind blowing past the cold towel makes it seem as if your bedroom is slowly but surely cooling down.

Tip 4: Invest in decent curtains

First things first : invest in quality curtains that keep the sunlight out of your bedroom. That way you won't be woken up by the sun in the morning and you'll also keep the heat out during the day on hot days. Choose thick fabrics in opaque materials and have your curtains made to measure. By keeping your room dark with these curtains, less heat comes in and you lower the temperatures during summer nights.

Tip 5: No electronics

Keeping your house cool works better when you don't turn on too many electrical appliances. After all, electronics give off heat and when you are trying to sleep, it is better to avoid any form of heat. Switch off lamps, television, kitchen appliances, computers and other appliances, and do not turn on your washing machine or dishwasher until the very last moment. This is not only good for your wallet and the environment, it saves you a lot of heat in the bedroom. Because the less energy your home uses, the less heat circulates in your home.

Tip 6: Get a fan at home

Can you no longer stand the heat and have you had several sleepless nights? Then it's time to bring out the big guns. An air conditioner may be a big financial step, but invest in a good fan for your bedroom to save yourself a lot of sticky, sleepless nights.
