5 ideas to bring the fall-feel into your home
We are still enjoying a glorious Indian summer, but we are slowly feeling the approach of a new season: autumn. The mornings are getting cooler, the evenings shorter... It's time to curl up on the sofa under a blanket with a good movie. It's time to welcome fall into your home! In this blog, we give you some tips on how to get your home in the fall mood.
Fall in your home: comfort at home
The past few years have made us more aware than ever of the importance of creating a warm and cosy home. Now that we are turning our attention inwards and spending more time at home, it is important to feel comfortable. Fortunately, fall is the season of comfort and coziness. With just a few changes, you can transform your airy summer interior into a warm and cozy place.
Go for warm colours
If you want a real 'before and after' feel, opt for a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Dark tones work wonders to create a warm atmosphere, and don't worry: dark doesn't mean depressing! Choose dark colours with warm undertones such as yellow ochre, moss green, chestnut brown and burgundy to create a cosy and intimate atmosphere in your home.
Choose soft fabrics
Is a new colour on the walls too radical or too much work for you? Then focus on small adjustments and try to convey these colours through your accessories: a warm throw blanket, pretty cushions or a new rug. Choose particularly soft and fluffy fabrics such as velvet and bouclé.
Think of a bouclé beanbag or cushions in warm tones. Don't forget your rug: a rug not only brings warmth, it radiates comfort because it is soft on your feet and, when you choose a warm colour, a rug has a great impact on the overall look of your interior.
Wooden furniture brings warmth
Wooden furniture brings immediate warmth to your home. Choose warmer shades like walnut, teak or smoked oak. The Pisa sideboard in walnut brings autumn into your home. The advantage of a sideboard is that it gives you enough space to place 'autumn accessories', such as a pumpkin or deliciously scented candles.
If you are looking for a real "forest cabin" atmosphere, mix different wooden furniture. If they have the same warm tones, your furniture will always match.
Let the light in
There's nothing more beautiful than the warm colours of the late summer sun streaming into your home in the afternoon. Give this light room to shine inside, it can get quite dark at this time of year, so make sure that after the sun goes down there is plenty of light in the house. Preferably use warm lamps, and not too bright.
Candles can make your home even warmer. Choose an apple-cinnamon scented candle for the ultimate fall feeling!
Think long term
Of course, it's great fun to turn your home into a kind of autumnal theme park with orange cinnamon garlands, autumn leaves and fake spider webs (for the Halloween vibe). But opt for a more sustainable approach. Go for items that will still fit in well after fall and last a little longer than a season. The vintage wall cabinet is a perfect example of this timelessness. Its colour gives your home a warm look, but by filling the cabinet with the right accessories, it will fit any interior, at any season.
